Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian government plans to designate 27 November 2024, as a national holiday to facilitate voting in the Regional Elections, according to State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.
He confirmed on Friday (8/11/2024) ongoing coordination with the General Elections Commission (KPU) and Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian on this proposal.
Secretary Prasetyo highlighted that, as this is the first nationwide simultaneous regional election, the government is carefully considering the best approach for scheduling the holiday.
“This is a first for simultaneous regional elections across all provinces and districts; we hope for smooth proceedings,” he said.
During a recent national coordination meeting in Sentul, KPU Chairman Mochammad Afifuddin assured that preparations for the elections, set for 27 November 2024are 99% complete, with logistics ready and polling officers appointed across Indonesia.
This election will cover 37 provinces, 415 districts, and 93 cities, with 1,557 candidate pairs competing for governor, mayor, and regent positions.
