The Minister of State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform, Abdullah Azwar Anas says integration in protection and handling of violence against children is a must. “We are aware of the urgency in handling these cases of violence against the children. Obviously, we require an integration in protection and case handling of the violence against the children, starting from the police, attorney, and other related stakeholders,” says Minister Anas on Friday (3/15/2024). According to him, the integration needs to be implemented immediately as there are 17,000 case reports of violence against the children in a year. KPAI estimated that in an hour, there are at least one to two children who are being harmed. Moreover, KPAI also revealed that around 60% of the cases reported, the perpetrator of the violence are their own family and loved ones. This caused most of the cases to be withdrawn. Chairperson of KPAI, Maryati says that surveillance and protection for the children which has become the basis of the institution is part of their effort in protecting the state's next generation.
