inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia has taken initial steps in collaboration with the Attorney General's Office to manage and supervise the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages to prevent corruption, manipulation, and usury.

Vice Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, stated that this initial discussion will form the basis for signing a joint agreement to carry out close supervision and monitoring by the Attorney General's Office.

"Today we held initial discussions between the Ministry of Hajj and the Attorney General's Office, which will be followed by the signing of an agreement to carry out close supervision and monitoring by the Attorney General's Office," Dahnil stated in Jakarta on Tuesday (9/30/2025).

Dahnil explained that the Attorney General's Office will be fully involved in all business processes carried out by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, including the procurement of goods and services from both domestic and international sources. Supervision will focus on vulnerable points that have previously been opportunities for manipulation, corruption, and usury.

"Jamintel has listened in detail to the critical points, and we have openly conveyed the areas that require strict oversight," said Dahnil.

In addition to routine supervision, the Attorney General's Office will assign experienced personnel, including former prosecutors from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), who will be assigned structurally to the Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to strengthen the oversight function in the procurement process.

In the context of comprehensive reform of the governance of the Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil emphasized that this collaboration is a direct order from the President of the Republic of Indonesia that must be carried out.

“Like it or not, we have to do it as it is the President’s order,” continued Dahnil
