inp.polri.go.id - The Association of Muslim Hajj and Umrah Organizers of the Republic of Indonesia (AMPHURI) predicts that Indonesia will get a hajj quota of 70 thousand pilgrims this year. The head of the AMPHURI Umrah division, Zaki Zakaria Ansyari, revealed that the figure was based on Indonesia's hajj quota so far, around 10% of the hajj quota outside the Saudi state. It is known, that Saudi Arabia has announced the 2022 hajj quota of one million pilgrims from inside and outside Saudi Arabia. "Indonesia usually gets a quota of 10% of the international quota. If this year's Hajj portion is 30% domestic and 70% international, God willing, Indonesia will have the quota of 70 thousand," explained the Head of Umrah AMPHURI, Monday (11/4/22). The Head of Umrah AMPHURI stressed that the figure was only a prediction. This is because the Saudis have not officially announced the quota of Hajj for Indonesia. The Head of Umrah AMPHURI then conveyed the various conditions for this year's hajj trip set by Saudi. These conditions include the 2022 hajj pilgrims must be under 65 years of age. Thus, pilgrims aged 65 years and over are asked to be more patient in waiting for their turn. The next requirement is that the hajj participants must have been vaccinated with the booster dose of COVID-19. Then, show negative PCR swab results up to 72 hours before departure. "While in Saudi, pilgrims must comply with health protocols," explained the Head of AMPHURI Umrah Division. Previously, Saudi Arabia announced they would reopen the Hajj pilgrimage after a two-year halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Saudi Arabia has prepared a quota of 1 million pilgrims from inside and outside the country. Indonesia is the country with the largest hajj quota in the world. In 2020, for example, the hajj quota for Indonesia reached 231,000. Saudi Arabia each year has the authority to regulate the quota of pilgrims from each country. The allocation of quotas is largely determined by the number of Muslims in each country.
