The Director General of Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) Maxi Rein Rondonuwu assesses that the case of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in recent times has not reached its peak yet. He predicts that the increase will continue. “Based on our monitoring, it will continue to increase. It has reached its peak. It seems, the increased potential remains, probably until the upcoming transition season,” said Maxi on Tuesday (4/2/2024). According to the Health Ministry data per March 26th, the dengue fever in Indonesia infected 53,131 people, with 404 of them reportedly dying from the disease. Furthermore, the data reveals that the highest dengue case in Indonesia is in Bandung with 1,741 cases, followed by Kendari City with 1,195 cases, West Bandung with 1,143 cases, Bogor City with 939 cases, and Subang with 909 cases. Then, for the highest death rate, the health ministry reveals that Jepara ranked as the number one with 17 fatality cases, followed by Subang with 15 cases, and Bandung with 14 cases. Although the cases of dengue fever are increasing, the bed occupancy rate in hospitals remains at a safe threshold. “As of now, the bed occupancy rate in hospitals remains safe. There are still empty beds, also ICU rooms,” said Maxi. In his conclusion, he implores the public to remain calm.
