Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A viral Facebook post claiming that the Indonesian government is distributing free Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders and financial assistance of Rp 10 million to the public via Telegram was officially declared a hoax.
The misleading post directs users to click a suspicious link to contact an administrative number on Telegram to claim the rewards.
A digital fact-check by Tirto.id on Sunday (5/7/2026)clarified that the listed contact numbers are completely fake and are not associated with any official state institution or the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. Security analysts warned that the narrative is a phishing scam designed to steal confidential personal data through malicious external links.
The Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs reiterated that the government does not offer free LPG or random cash prizes. State-subsidized LPG programs remain tightly restricted to verified low-income households registered in the official database.
