inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. The pursuit of a fugitive with the initials S (40) by the police following a home robbery in Tangerang Regency has finally come to an end.
Police arrested S at his hideout in the Villa Regency 1 housing complex, Gebang Raya, Periuk District, Tangerang City.
S was arrested by the Sepatan Police, Tangerang City Sub-regional Metro Police, after police conducted an investigation into a theft that occurred in Sarakan Hamlet, Pisangan Jaya Village, Sepatan District, on July 18, 2026.
Sepatan Sector Police Chief, Police Senior Inspector Fahyani, stated that during initial questioning, S confessed to his involvement in the theft along with ST, who had previously been apprehended and detained by police.
"We apprehended the perpetrator at his hideout. During initial questioning, S confessed to carrying out the theft with ST, who is currently in custody," Fahyani said in a statement on Sunday (8/30/2026).
The two men allegedly had separate roles in carrying out the crime. ST was responsible for monitoring the surrounding area, while S acted as the executor, entering and breaking into the target's home.
This case came to light after the victim, Sri Tanti, returned home with her family to find the house in disarray. The back door was damaged and several valuables were reported missing.
The perpetrator allegedly took 30 grams of gold jewelry and a cell phone from the house.
Police revealed that the stolen gold had been sold, with the proceeds used to pay debts and cover daily expenses.
During S's arrest, police also seized evidence in the form of a cell phone and its box.
S is charged under Article 477 of the Criminal Code concerning aggravated theft, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.
Police are still investigating to determine the possible involvement of other perpetrators or networks.
Acting Tangerang City Sub-regional Metro Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Eko Bagus Riyadi, reminded the public to be more vigilant, especially when leaving the house for extended periods.
"We urge the public to work together to maintain neighborhood security. If you see any suspicious activity, immediately report it to the police through the 110 call center or the nearest police station," said Eko.
