inp.polri.go.id - Pemalang. The cause of the fire that engulfed Belik Market in Belik District, Pemalang Regency, is still under investigation. A team from the Central Java Regional Police Forensic Laboratory was deployed to examine the fire site on Sunday (8/30/2026).
Pemalang Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Rendy Setia Permana, explained that police line had been set up at the scene for investigation purposes. Confirmation of the cause of the fire is still pending the results of the Central Java Regional Police Forensic Laboratory examination.

The fire occurred on Saturday evening (8/29/2026). Dozens of Pemalang Sub-regional Police personnel, along with police officers, were deployed to secure the area and assist vendors in recovering merchandise from the market area.
"Upon arrival at the scene, police personnel and police officers immediately secured the area and assisted vendors in evacuating merchandise," he said.
In addition to securing the location, police also implemented traffic management. Traffic diversions were implemented because Belik Market is located on the main route connecting Pemalang Regency with Purbalingga Regency.
Pemalang Sub-regional Police Traffic Unit personnel diverted traffic at the Setiasih Restaurant intersection to an alternative route.

Based on preliminary data, Belik Market has 187 kiosks and 635 stalls. Of these, approximately 120 kiosks and 500 stalls were affected by the fire.
Police urged vendors and the public to stay away from the fire-affected area while the investigation is ongoing.
"We urge the public and vendors to remain calm and avoid entering the affected area for safety and security reasons," he concluded.
