inp.polri.go.id - Kuansing. Police discovered equipment suspected of being used for illegal gold mining (PETI) just a few hundred meters from the Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regency Government office complex, Riau, on Sunday (9/27/2026).
The discovery consisted of a PETI raft and a Robin engine, found behind the Kuansing Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) office in Kuantan Tengah District.
The illegal mining equipment was discovered after residents reported suspected PETI activity through the 110 hotline service at around 11:07 a.m.
Following up on the report, personnel from the Kuansing Sub-regional Police and the Central Kuantan Sector Police immediately arrived at the location behind the Kuansing Regional Government office complex.
Officers then conducted inspections and a search to verify the information provided by the public. However, by the time police arrived at the location, the PETI workers had allegedly left the area.
Although no workers were found, officers did find equipment suspected of being used for illegal mining. A stingkai raft and a Robin engine were found abandoned.
To prevent the equipment from being reused, police then destroyed and burned the raft and engine at the location.
Kuansing Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Hidayat Perdana, stated that every public report regarding suspected illegal mining activities is a matter of concern to the police and is immediately followed up according to the situation on the ground.
"Any information from the public regarding disturbances to public order and security, including suspected illegal mining activities, will be immediately followed up by personnel," Hidayat said.
According to him, a rapid response to public reports is part of the police's service and an effort to maintain security and environmental sustainability.
The discovery of illegal mining equipment around government offices is also a concern because illegal mining activities not only have the potential to disrupt security but can also impact the environment if carried out without proper supervision and management.
Hidayat urged the public not to hesitate to report any evidence of illegal mining activities or other security disturbances in their neighborhoods.
"Please use the 110 Police Service to submit information or complaints to the police. Every report will be followed up according to procedures and the situation on the ground," he concluded.
