Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi met with her counterpart from Bangladesh, Abdul Momen in Jakarta. The two discuss about the cooperation of the two countries in energy and trade sectors, along with issues on the region.
On that meeting, both ministers signed an MoU of Energy cooperation that could push the investment in said sector. The two agreed that the cooperation should be hasten, including facilitating the investment of Indonesian state-enterprises in the construction of a power plant in Bangladesh.
Currently, Indonesia and Bangladesh are still in the talk for Preferential Trade Arrangements (PTA) to strengthen their trade cooperation. They aim to quickly end their PTA negotiation by the end of this year. Bangladesh also stated their interest in learning marine culture from Indonesia.
Regarding the regional issue, Retno expressed her appreciation for Bangladesh support for the 43rd ASEAN Summit. The two ministers are on the same perspective regarding the importance of concrete implementation of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP) to maintain peace, stability, and the prosperity of the region.
