Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. Indonesia and Cambodia have signed a letter of intent (LoI) to strengthen cooperation in preventing human trafficking and addressing immigration challenges during the Second Bilateral Immigration Meeting held in Bali on Monday (19/5/2025).
The cooperation includes information exchange, technical assistance, and human resource capacity building, with the aim of protecting citizens of both countries from illegal migration.
“This meeting serves as a vital platform to deepen mutual understanding, share experiences, and formulate innovative solutions to immigration issues of shared concern,” said Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The collaboration follows a rise in cases involving Indonesian citizens being trafficked into illegal online gambling and scams in Cambodia. It reinforces Indonesia’s domestic efforts, including the Immigration-Assisted Villages program, which now operates in 185 villages to build community awareness on trafficking risks.
