Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia has voiced strong support for the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Palestine.
“The ICC’s decision to issue arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant is a crucial step toward justice for crimes committed in Palestine,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Saturday via its official X account, @Kemlu_RI, on Saturday (23/11/2024).
The ministry called for the warrants to be fully enforced in line with international law. “Indonesia supports all efforts to hold Israel accountable, including those pursued through the ICC,” the statement said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The ICC issued the warrants on 21 November 2024, citing crimes allegedly committed between 8 October 2023, and 20 May 2024.
Indonesia also reiterated its stance against Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian territories, highlighting the importance of advancing a two-state solution to ensure a free and independent Palestinian state.
