Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian government evacuated on Sunday (15/12/2024) 30 Indonesian citizens from Syria amid conflict.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the evacuees arrived safely in Indonesia. The Ministry is continuing efforts to document and communicate with Indonesians still residing in Syria regarding their willingness to return home, according to antaranews.com.

It was the second evacuation operation in December this year, following the repatriation of 35 Indonesians on 12 December 2024. In total, 65 Indonesians have now been evacuated.

The recent operation involved a land route crossing through the Masnaa border into Lebanon, followed by a flight to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The evacuees hail from various provinces, including Aceh, Banten, and Java, and comprise 25 women and 5 men.

The Ministry’s data indicates that 1,162 Indonesians are registered as residing in Syria. Of these, 84 have raised their expectation to return to Indonesia.

The Indonesian Embassy in Damascus and the Ministry are monitoring the volatile security situation, which has included ongoing airstrikes by Israel. As a precaution, the entire country has been under Alert Level One since 7 December 2024.

The Ministry has urged Indonesians in Syria to stay vigilant, avoid high-risk areas, limit unnecessary movement, and maintain close communication with the embassy and fellow citizens. Families in Indonesia can reach out to the Ministry’s protection hotline at +6281-290-070-027 or the Indonesian Embassy in Damascus at +963 954 444 810 for assistance.
