Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Monday (23/6/2025) the evacuation of 97 people from Iran to Baku in Azerbaijan, amid escalating regional tensions. 

“Ninety-seven evacuees already in Baku will be sent home in stages via commercial airlines,” said Judha Nugraha, the Director of Citizen Protection at the ministry, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The evacuees include 96 Indonesian citizens—three of whom are embassy staff—and one Iranian citizen married to an Indonesian citizen.

The first group of 29 evacuees is scheduled to depart Baku Monday evening and arrive in Jakarta on Tuesday. The remaining people are expected to arrive between Wednesday and Thursday.

The evacuation follows a surge in hostilities between Iran and Israel. Indonesia has appreciated the Azerbaijani government for facilitating the safe border crossing from Iran.
