Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.   The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed it questioned preacher Khalid Basalamah in its ongoing investigation into alleged corruption involving Indonesia’s special hajj quota.

“He was cooperative and provided valuable information regarding hajj affairs,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo on Monday (23/6/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

Basalamah, who reportedly runs Uhud Tour, a hajj and umrah agency, was asked about hajj quota management. The KPK emphasized that his input was helpful in clarifying the case.

The investigation centers on possible irregularities in the allocation of special hajj quotas, particularly the 10,000 additional slots granted in 2024. The House of Representatives (DPR)’s special committee previously highlighted a lack of transparency in the quota’s 50:50 split between regular and special hajj.

The KPK urged other parties to follow Basalamah’s example and comply with summonses to support an effective resolution of the case. The matter remains in the preliminary investigation phase.
