Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia’s national futsal team was defeated by Latvia 2–3 in the final of the international AQUA Four Nations Cup 2025 at the Gelora Bung Karno stadium’s Basketball Hall, Jakarta, on Sunday (21/9/2025).
The result left coach Hector Souto’s squad in second place, ending their strong run in the two previous matches, according to antaranews.com.
Both teams pushed hard from the start, but no goals were scored in the opening 10 minutes. Latvia broke the deadlock in the 13th minute through Viktors, who outmaneuvered goalkeeper Muhammad Nizar in a one-on-one situation.
Indonesia quickly equalized two minutes later when Israr Megantara found the net in the 15th minute, and the 1–1 scoreline stood until halftime.
Latvia regained the lead early in the second half. Edgar Tarakanovs scored in the 22nd minute, making it 2–1. Indonesia responded by piling on pressure with high-tempo attacks, leading to tense exchanges between players.
Latvia extended their advantage through Viktor Kulepovs, who made it 3–1.
In the final moments, Indonesia attempted a power play. With just 11 seconds left, Guntur Aribowo, playing as a flying goalkeeper, scored to close the gap to 2–3. Despite the late goal, Indonesia had to concede the title to Latvia.
