Inp.polri.go.id - New York. Indonesia has taken a central role in efforts to secure wider international recognition of Palestine ahead of a New York high-level UN conference, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, scheduled for Monday with a focus on implementing a two-state solution.
“The aim of this High-Level Conference on the Two-State Solution is to gather as many countries as possible to recognize the State of Palestine, thereby strengthening its leverage in peace negotiations,” said Hari Prabowo, the Indonesia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, as reported by antaranews.com on Sunday (21/9/2025).
Indonesia is part of a 19-member core group working behind the scenes to secure additional recognition for Palestine. The initiative comes as several countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Portugal, and Malta, have recently confirmed plans to formally recognize Palestine. Others, such as Canada, Australia, and Belgium, are considering the move.
On 12 September 2025, the UN General Assembly adopted the “New York Declaration,” reaffirming the two-state solution with 142 votes in favor.
