Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto raised Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with France, particularly in defense.
In a meeting with French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot at Merdeka Palace on Wednesday (26/3/2025), he emphasized Indonesia’s focus on military modernization.
“Indonesia is committed to expanding defense cooperation with France, especially in modernizing its defense systems,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
With both nations marking 75 years of diplomatic ties, the partnership is seen as critical for national security and regional stability.
Minister Barrot underscored the importance of unity in addressing global challenges.
“We seek to reinforce our sovereignty together and build collective strength,” he told reporters.
Since 2011, Indonesia and France have maintained a strategic defense partnership, further formalized through a 2021 Plan of Action. Indonesia also prioritizes technology transfer in its defense cooperation, recognizing its importance in maintaining national stability.
