Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Illegal Mining Forest Area Control Task Force (Satgas PKH) has identified 4.2 million hectares of forest land exploited for illegal mining without official permits.

The sweeping crackdown follows President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to tighten control over mining operations in protected areas.

“Starting 1 September 2025, we will commence large-scale enforcement against mining activities in forest zones operating without IPPKH,” said Febrie Adriansyah, the Head of the Task Force and Special Crimes Prosecutor at the Attorney General’s Office, on Thursday (28/8/2025), referring to the Borrow-to-Use Forest Area Permits.

The government will temporarily hand over the reclaimed areas to state-owned mining holding MIND ID, coordinated by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, until a permanent legal mechanism is established, according to antaranews.com.

President Prabowo previously announced a plan to safeguard up to Rp 300 trillion in state assets from 1,063 illegal mining sites.
