Inp.polri.go.id - The Hague. Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono urged the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to issue a legal opinion affirming that Israel’s continued violations of international law have undermined Palestinians’ right to self-determination.
“Israel’s failure to fulfill its obligations has deprived the Palestinian people of the ability to exercise their fundamental rights as a nation, including the right to determine their own future,” he said in a statement submitted to the ICJ in The Hague, as quoted by antaranews.com on Thursday (1/5/2025).
Minister Sugiono emphasized that Palestinians are entitled to peace, sovereignty, and the freedom to shape their political, economic, and cultural lives. Indonesia requested the ICJ declare that Israel’s actions violate its duties under international law—as a UN member and as an occupying power..
He reiterated Indonesia’s firm support for Palestinian independence and urged the Court to provide legal clarity to help end prolonged human rights violations in the region.
