Indonesian Athletes Shine at Asia U-20 Athletics Championship

Inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang.  During the 21st Asian U-20 Athletics Championships in Dubai, Indonesian athletes showcased their talent from April 24 to 27. 

This event, with 1,500 athletes from 36 nations, held great significance on the Asian Athletics Association (AAA) calendar.

Tigor Tanjung, the Secretary-General of the Indonesian Athletic Association (PASI), praised on Monday (29/4/2024) the athletes' achievements, emphasizing the need to continually evaluate youth athlete development programs for enhancement.

Maria Andriani Melabessy, an 18-year-old from Jakarta, won a bronze medal in pole vault with a personal best jump of 360 cm while Katyea Ebri Safitri from West Kalimantan set a new national junior record in long jump with a leap of 5.97 meters.

Mutiara Oktarani from Yogyakarta and Maulana Ismail from East Java achieved personal bests in the 1,500 meters and 400 meters, respectively. Shava Salvia and Hoshi Fatiha performed exceptionally in short-distance races.

National Training Center (Pelatnas) athlete from Mimika, Eqman Yance, recorded a time of 49.24 seconds in the 400-meter race. while shot put athlete Afrizal Faiz threw a distance of 14.03 meters, while javelin thrower Zaenuri recorded a throw of 52.32 meters.
