Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Consulate in Songkhla repatriated 13 fishermen from East Aceh who had been detained in Thailand since May this year for allegedly crossing maritime boundaries, completing their return to Indonesia on Tuesday (16/12/2025).

“They completed their detention period in Phuket on December 5 after being arrested by the Royal Thai Navy on 19 May 2025 in the Andaman Sea,” Consul Winardi Hanafi Lucky said, as cited by antaranews.com

The fishermen, including two captains and 11 crew members from two vessels, were flown from Phuket to Jakarta and arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport the same evening. Consular officials accompanied them throughout the process and confirmed their health condition.

Upon arrival, the fishermen were handed over to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Citizen Protection Directorate, with representatives from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries and the Aceh Social Affairs Office present. They were scheduled to return to Aceh via Medan on Wednesday.
