Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and Egypt’s Minister of Defense General Abdel Mageed Saqr held a bilateral meeting in Cairo on Saturdayto advance defense cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting was a direct follow-up to the bilateral commitment made by President Prabowo Subianto and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to strengthen ties—particularly in the defense sector, according to a press release from the Ministry of Defense on Sunday (13/7/2025) reported by antaranews.com.

During the meeting, the two ministers discussed several strategic initiatives, including enhancing defense industry cooperation, conducting joint training and exercises, and initiating military personnel exchange programs, which will also include language training in Arabic and Bahasa Indonesia to improve institutional communication between the two defense establishments.

Minister Sjafrie appreciated Egypt’s role in facilitating humanitarian aid delivery from Indonesia to the people of Gaza, underscoring the importance of Egypt’s position in the region.
