inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, targets Indonesia's rice production to reach 33.8 million tons in 2026 or an increase of 1.8 million tons from the initial target of 2025 of 32 million tons.
"The Ministry of Agriculture is trying to increase the production and productivity of agricultural commodities in 2026 with a rice production target of 33.8 million tons," he said, in a Working Meeting with Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) on Monday (7/7/2025).
In addition to rice, he also targets corn production of 22.7 million tons, soybeans 343 thousand tons, various chilies 3.08 million tons and shallots of 2 million tons.
To achieve these targets Andi has a priority program for 2026, namely land optimization, rice field printing, and preparation of superior seeds. There are also downstreaming agricultural commodities, focusing on increasing the production of rice, corn, and other strategic commodities, as well as increasing the production of milk and beef.
Andi Amran explained that food self-sufficiency is included in President Prabowo Subianto Astacita program, in order to ensure that the food needs of 284 million Indonesians can be met sustainably.
