Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief  General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stressed on Wednesday (13/9/2023) the pivotal role of the policewomen, better known as Polwan,in ensuring a safe and smooth democratic process in the upcoming 2024 elections. "This is our current challenge – to collaborate with all available forces to achieve and welcome a peaceful election, which is undoubtedly the hope of the entire community. We are well aware of the critical juncture we find ourselves in, where our choices will either keep us stagnant or propel us towards a brighter national future," he said while addressing the Polwan 75th anniversary themed 'Precise Police for the Nation, Polwan Ready to Support Peaceful Elections Towards an Advanced Indonesia".. General Sigit acknowledged that differences in opinions, perspectives, and choices are commonplace during elections. Nevertheless, he emphasized that all police personnel must be committed to preserving and defending Indonesia's unity. The INP Chief disclosed that the INP has established a "cooling system" to ensure the security of the 2024 elections, underscoring the indispensable role of Polwan in creating a secure and peaceful environment. "The cooling system initiative is already in place, and I believe that Polwan, with their distinctive qualities, are a perfect fit for this task. Their involvement will undoubtedly enhance the effectiveness of our cooling system efforts," he explained, elaborating that  the pivotal role of Polwan as a "cooling system"  in preventing societal divisions during the elections. The INP Chief warned that a significant division could have lasting repercussions, affecting both the short term and our ability to capitalize on the demographic bonus.  Therefore, he urged Polwan to play a substantial role in perpetuating and boosting public trust in the INP institution to enable the seecurity authorities effectively any possible challenges confronting police personnel. "It is imperative that we continue to enhance both our organizational structure and public perception of our colleagues on a personal level. This is of paramount importance," he added. (ndt/hn/nm)
