Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo conducted an aerial inspection over Riau Province on Thursday (24/7/2025) to monitor wildfire hotspots and evaluate emergency response preparedness.
“I observed several active hotspots, prompting immediate water bombing and deployment of weather modification technology,” he said in a press statement received in Jakarta, as reported by antaranews.com.
Chief Sigit emphasized the importance of rapid wildfire response, noting that inter-agency coordination has intensified, including fire prevention campaigns and real-time monitoring tools. The Indonesian Military (TNI) and police have also utilized firefighting equipment to control blazes.
He further stressed the need to prevent new fires, especially those triggered by human actions.
“It’s essential to ensure there are no additional hotspots, particularly those caused deliberately,” Chief Sigit added.
Authorities continue to reinforce efforts through air operations and technological support amid increasing fire threats during the dry season.
