Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian Military Commander Admiral Yudo Margono raised his appreciation with the overall security measures in place for the main event of the 43rd ASEAN Summit, calling it a success and attributing the success to the coordination between the Indonesian Military, Indonesian National Police (INP), the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), the National Intelligence Agency (BIN), and other relevant agencies.
"Thank God, we have efficiently managed all security operations for the 43rd ASEAN Summit's Protection and Assistance Mission,” said Admiral Yudo on Thursday (7/9/2023).
The Commander went on to explain that security measures would remain in effect until September 9, 2023, in line with the return of delegates and additional events taking place.
He emphasized that no significant challenges or threats encountered while securing the 43rd ASEAN Summit. He also credited the successful security operation to the seamless coordination among agencies and the support of the local community.
"Although some people may have experienced inconveniences such as traffic disruptions during the day, I apologize for that, but we are prioritizing our nation's interests and the safety of state leaders, necessitating high-level security," he added.
Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the Chief of INP, acknowledged that securing the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta posed unique challenges compared to previous summits in Bali and Labuan Bajo. Jakarta's daily traffic congestion was a notable concern, he said.
To address this issue, traffic engineering strategies were employed, including temporary road closures during specific events, such as the gala dinner night. He extended his apologies for any inconvenience caused by the alterations to traffic routes.
Despite these traffic-related challenges, the security operation itself proceeded smoothly. This success was attributed to strong community support, robust inter-agency coordination, and the deployment of advanced technologies with integrated monitoring systems.
The police chief highlighted that there were still ongoing activities, including the return of 18 delegates on Thursday and 11 delegates on the following day. In addition, several supplementary security measures would remain in place to ensure a secure environment until the summit's conclusion, allowing state leaders and all delegates to safely return to their respective countries.
