Inp.polri.go.id - Medan. Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo flagged off a massive humanitarian convoy at the North Sumatra Regional Police Headquarters on Saturday (14/2/2026) to support over 40,000 residents affected by recent disasters across Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

The relief effort, consisting of 22 containers, includes ready-to-eat meals, clothing, essential food supplies, and vital medicines tailored to the specific needs of each province.

"This aid represents the state's presence, following President Prabowo Subianto's directives to ensure optimal disaster response and distribution," Chief Sigit said during the dispatch in Medan, as cited by antaranews.com

Beyond immediate relief, the INP are collaborating with the Indonesian Military (TNI) and other state agencies to expedite long-term recovery, including the construction of temporary and permanent housing.

House of Representatives (DPR) Commission IV Chairwoman Siti Hediati Hariyadi praised the initiative, highlighting the critical restoration of infrastructure, such as bridges, which is essential for reconnecting isolated communities and revitalizing the regional economy.

The aid is being funneled directly through local sub-regional police in the hardest-hit areas, including Southeast Aceh, Gayo Lues, and West Sumatra, to ensure transparent and efficient delivery.
