Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Chief of Indonesian National Police (INP) Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has called for the transformation of the institution into a modern organization that can adapt to the evolving times, aiming to provide comprehensive protection, efficient service, and reassuring support to the entire Indonesian population.

In a statement made on Thursday (22/6/23), he emphasized the importance of the police preparing themselves as a modernized entity, open to constructive feedback and embrace criticism. He acknowledged the right of every segment of society to oversee the conduct of law enforcement personnel in the performance of their duties, albeit acknowledging the challenges faced in its practical implementation.

Recognizing the inherent responsibilities of the police force, he also stressed the need for collaboration among the INP, the Indonesian Military, and relevant stakeholders to safeguard and ensure the effective implementation of government policies aimed at promoting societal well-being, particularly in the midst of global uncertainties prevailing in the present era.

"Our collective endeavor must ensure the successful realization of these programs, propelling us towards the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045 (Golden Indonesia 2045). Nevertheless, we must confront the dynamic nature of operational activities, which contain both positive aspects that warrant evaluation and negative aspects associated with deviations in the era of digital hyper-connectivity," he said.

Furthermore, with the emergence of citizen journalism in Indonesia, the importance of accountability is underscored. He highlighted, "Every action we take is subject to public scrutiny. When our actions are commendable, the public acknowledges and portrays them positively. Conversely, in unfavorable situations, if the public highlights and disseminates them, our reputation is at risk of being tarnished. This represents the inherent risk we face in the current era."

He also emphasized the necessity for personnel to break free from conventional practices and step out of their comfort zones, fostering an organizational culture that embraces change.

"These measures enable us to navigate the challenges at hand and safeguard ourselves from being overwhelmed. In the face of setbacks, we will rectify and rise above them. I personally witness this unwavering spirit embodied by every member in our institution," he concluded.
