The Directorate of Crimes of Trafficking in Women and Children – Crimes of Trafficking in Persons (TPPA-TPPO) of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Indonesian National Police (INP) recorded 36,148 cases of gender-based violence against women and children throughout 2025 with a case resolution rate of 12.8 percent.

"The Directorate of TPPA-TPPO was only formed in October 2024. Throughout 2025 we handled cases of violence against women, children, and other vulnerable groups, including human trafficking," said the Director of TPPA-TPPO of the Criminal Investigation Agency of INP, Brigadier General Nurul Azizah, in a Public Hearing with Commission III of the House of Representatives in Jakarta, Monday (9/22/2025).

She explained that of the total cases recorded, the majority were crimes against children, domestic violence, pornography and sexual intercourse, molestation, and the crime of human trafficking.

Some prominent cases include the crime of human trafficking (TPPO) of babies in West Java involving 42 babies, 19 of whom are already abroad and one baby died.

Another case occurred in East Nusa Tenggara which is now entering the prosecution stage, as well as a child abuse case in East Java that was successfully uncovered in the last three months.

In addition, throughout 2025, the Directorate of TPPA-TPPO uncovered 353 cases of TPPO with a total of 1,114 victims consisting of women, children, and adult men. Of these, 699 Indonesian citizens were successfully repatriated from Myanmar after becoming victims of an online scam syndicate.
