Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo claimed that overall traffic congestion in the capital has decreased, despite severe gridlock recently occurring in South Jakarta’s TB Simatupang road line.
“Overall, congestion has dropped significantly, but the horror traffic jam on TB Simatupang indeed happened,” he said on Saturday (23/8/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
Governor Pramono explained that ongoing infrastructure projects contributed to the heavy congestion in the area. He said he had formally requested project contractors to reduce road obstructions caused by construction shelters and immediately remove them once work was completed.
The governor also ordered police, transportation officers, and municipal police to manage traffic at the site, stressing that he did not want unofficial traffic controllers, commonly known as “Pak Ogah,” to operate there.
As a temporary measure, Jakarta Transportation Agency plans to open sidewalks and remove several road dividers in TB Simatupang road to restore two traffic lanes and ease congestion.
