Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. The death toll from the illegal oil well fire in Dukuh Gendono, Gandu Village, Bogorejo District, Blora Regency, Central Java, has risen to four after another victim succumbed to burn injuries.
“Last night I received news that Yeti, a burn victim who had been treated intensively at Dr. Sardjito Hospital in Yogyakarta, has passed away,” said Agung Triyono, a member of the Blora Disaster Response Team (TRC), on Saturday (23/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The victims who died were identified as Tanek (60), Sureni (52), Wasini (50), and Yeti (30). Yeti’s two-year-old child remains in intensive care at the same hospital.
Despite seven days of continuous efforts, firefighters, PT Pertamina engineers, and volunteers have yet to extinguish the blaze. The disaster has forced at least 300 families, or 750 residents, to evacuate.
Authorities are providing shelters, food, and medical aid, while police investigate the cause and question witnesses linked to the illegal drilling activity.
