inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Provincial Government is urging the public and animal slaughtering committees to refrain from using single-use plastic, especially black plastic, to wrap sacrificial meat for Eid al-Adha 2026.

RM Aldin Praka, Head of the Waste Management Subgroup of the Jakarta Environmental Agency, stated that the use of single-use plastic continues to contribute to waste generation and impacts environmental pollution.

"Don't use single-use plastic bags, especially black plastic. Many people still use plastic bags to store sacrificial meat, which ultimately ends up as waste," said Aldin, Tuesday (5/12/2026).

As an alternative, the Jakarta Provincial Government recommends using environmentally friendly containers such as bamboo baskets, banana leaves, or reusable food containers brought by the beneficiaries of the sacrificial meat.

"It's better to use woven containers or use your own containers to reduce the impact on environmental pollution," said Chairman Aldin.

Furthermore, the qurban organizing committee is also asked to actively promote the use of environmentally friendly packaging to the beneficiaries of the sacrificial meat.

This appeal is part of the implementation of the Eco Qurban principle, which has been promoted by the Jakarta Provincial Government in recent years.

Eco Qurban is a concept for organizing sacrificial animal slaughter that focuses on environmental protection and management to minimize pollution at the slaughter site.

One implementation is reducing the use of single-use plastics and replacing them with more environmentally friendly packaging.
