Inp.polri.go.id - Manokwari. The Jayawijaya Sub-regional Police ensured that public security and order across Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Mountains, remain conducive ahead of the year-end in Wamena on Friday (30/10/2026).
"The situation in Wamena City as well as Jayawijaya Regency overall approaching the end of the year can still be described as conducive," said Jayawijaya Police Chief Superintendent Anak Agung Made Satriya Bimantara.
Despite overall stability, he highlighted prominent incidents tied to illegal alcohol and narcotics distribution, noting field data shows 75 to 80 percent of local traffic accidents stem from alcohol and drug consumption, as reported by antaranews.com.
In response, police are intensifying enforcement against illicit alcohol, marijuana, and crystal methamphetamine smuggling across air, land, and courier routes to safeguard the region.
