Joe Aditya Breaks Decade-Old National Record at PON 2024

Inp.polri.go.id - Medan.  Swimmer Joe Aditya Wijaya Kurniawan from Jakarta set a new national record in the 200-meter freestyle at the XXI National Sports Week (PON) Aceh-North Sumatra 2024. 

His time of 1:50.35 broke the previous record of 1:50.46 held by Triady Fauzi Sidiq since the 2013 SEA Games, according to antaranews.com.

“This achievement is the result of extensive training,” Joe said. “I’m grateful for the support from  Central Sulawesi since 2022 and honored to break the record of my idol, Triady Fauzi, and my previous PON record.”

Joe also won gold in the 50-meter butterfly and claimed his fourth gold medal at the event. Nicholas Karel Subagyo finished second with 1:50.61, while Moch. Akbar Putra Taufik took bronze with 1:51.16.
