Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. High-ranking officials from the Bali Regional Police, the Bali Military Command, and the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) in Bali conducted an aerial inspection of the Gilimanuk Port access route on Tuesday (17/3/2026) to manage a burgeoning traffic crisis.
"This aerial monitoring allows us to see the comprehensive traffic flow and ensure the mobility of residents heading to Java is handled optimally," said Bali Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Ariasandy, as reported by antaranews.com.
Bali Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya and Bali Military Commander (Pangdam) Major General Piek Budyakto rode a helicopter to survey vehicle lines that have reportedly stretched for dozens of kilometers. The congestion, dominated by logistics trucks, passenger buses, and private cars, marks an early surge in the annual mudik (homecoming trip) toward Java.
Current reports indicate that the massive volume of vehicles has overwhelmed the available ferry fleet, leading to significant bottlenecks. In response, the joint task force is coordinating immediate strategic measures to clear the backlog before the start of the Nyepi Day of Silence celebrations.
