Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Jonatan Christie secured a spot in the semifinals of the 2025 BWF Super 500 Indonesia Masters after defeating Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto in a thrilling rubber game, 17-21, 21-13, 21-11, on Friday (24/1/2025).

“I’m grateful to make it to the semifinals here at Istora, my home court. It’s such a joyful moment for me,” he said after the match at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, as reported by antaranews.com.

The first game was tightly contested, with Jonatan leading 10-7 before Nishimoto fought back to claim it 21-17. Jonatan regained control in the second and third games, using solid defense and varied attacks to win the game.

Earlier, Indonesia’s mixed doubles pair, Rinov Rivaldy and Lisa Ayu Kusumawati, also advanced to the semifinals after a hard-fought victory over Malaysia’s Hoo Pang Ron and Cheng Su Yin. The Indonesian duo won 21-23, 21-11, 21-19 in a tense quarterfinal match.
