The Head of the Indonesian Government Communications Agency (Bakom), Muhammad Qodari, stated that the Merah Putih Village Cooperative (KDKMP) has the potential to help communities save up to IDR 33 trillion per year by providing basic necessities at more affordable prices.

"The current market price of LPG is around IDR 20,000 per 3-kilogram cylinder, while at the cooperative it's IDR 16,000. MinyaKita is usually IDR 21,000 on the market, while at the cooperative it's IDR 15,700," said Qodari on Wednesday (6/10/2026).

He explained that this price difference will have a significant impact on household spending.

According to data from the Ministry of Education and Culture, there will be approximately 74 million families in Indonesia, with an average monthly consumption of four LPG cylinders and four liters of cooking oil.

With these assumptions, savings from LPG purchases are estimated to reach around IDR 14.2 trillion per year. This calculation is based on the consumption of four LPG cylinders per month for 12 months among 74 million families, with a price difference of IDR 4,000 per cylinder compared to the market price.

Meanwhile, savings from cooking oil purchases are estimated to reach Rp 18.82 trillion per year. This value is derived from the consumption of four liters of cooking oil per month for a year among 74 million families, with a price difference of Rp 5,300 per liter.

"So, in one year, the community can actually save around Rp 33 trillion," said Qodari.

He emphasized that the economic benefits generated by the KDKMP are not merely theoretical calculations, but can be directly felt by the community in their daily lives.

"For families who carefully calculate their expenses every day, that represents a significant saving, and that figure is not just a calculation on paper, not just empty talk. It is a reality that will be directly felt by the community on the ground," he explained.
