Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. Klungkung Sub-regional Police Chief Superintendent Umar inspected several churches on Wednesday (20/12/2023) to assess their preparation for the celebration of Christmas this year.
"The direct inspection of several churches is to ensure their preparation for the celebration of Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024," he said,.
The churches visited included Santa Sisilia Catholic Church on Dewi Sartika Street, GBI Rock Church on Kenyeri Street, Kemah Injil Church on Menuh Street and the Pentecostal Church in Akah Village, antaranws.com reported.
Chief Umar, accompanied by Head of Operations of Klungkung Assistant Superintendent I Ketut Suastika and senior officers of Klungkung Police, inspected several churches in Klungkung Regency.
The inspection is part of "Operation Lilin Agung 2023".
While inspecting the churches, the Klungkung Police Chief coordinated with each pastor and religious leader, informing them that the Klungkung Police are ready to secure the Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 celebrations.
"In securing this event, the Klungkung Police will work with security personnel from the Indonesian Military and civil security agencies. The aim is to ensure that the worship activities proceed smoothly without any disturbance to public order," Chief Umar said.
Earlier on Tuesday night, the Klungkung Police has secured a community Christmas service at the GBI Rock PI Post on Kenyeri Street.
The Christmas celebration at GBI Rock PI Pos was attended by a total of about 150 people.
