inp.polri.go.id - Central Lombok. Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) stated that the Red and White Fishermen's Village Program (KNMP) established by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries aims to transform the lives of fishermen and improve community welfare.
"The KNMP was established to transform the lives of fishermen, making them more productive and independent," Zulhas said while inspecting the KNMP Bilelando development program in Central Lombok on Friday (7/31/2026).
He stated that the KNMP and the Red and White Village Cooperative (KDMP), a priority program of President Prabowo Subianto, can boost the productivity of the fisheries sector and strengthen the catch distribution chain.
"This program provides added value, thus improving the welfare of fishermen," he said.
He said the KNMP is equipped with various facilities needed by farmers, including an ice factory, workshop, logistics, a fish auction house, and a fish storage warehouse.
"If there's a large catch, it can be sold to other regions, even to Java. Every KNMP is integrated with other KNMPs and KDMPs," he said.
Zulhaz ensured that the KNMP would remain operational, as it would become a village asset that is expected to contribute to community welfare and boost the development in the village.
"The government will continue to provide assistance after two years of handing it over to the village for management," he said.
The government allocated IDR 22 billion for the construction of the KNMP, which includes the construction of culinary facilities, an ice factory, fish storage, and other facilities. The facilities are tailored to the needs of fishermen.
