Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) launched multiple "sting" operations on Wednesday (4/2/2026), targeting high-ranking officials within the Ministry of Finance.

In a major bust involving the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, investigators arrested Rizal, the newly appointed Head of the West Sumatra Regional Office, and seized billions of rupiah alongside three kilograms of gold. At the same time, a separate operation in South Kalimantan led to the arrest of Mulyono, Head of the Banjarmasin Tax Office, over fraudulent VAT restitution in the plantation sector.

"Regarding the money, it is worth billions of rupiah. Then for the precious metals, there are perhaps about three kilograms of gold," said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo, as reported by antaranews.com.

These operations were the fifth KPK sting operation of 2026. The Customs case specifically targets illicit import manipulation, while the Banjarmasin investigation probes bribery within tax refund processes. Both cases follow a pattern of corruption involving high-level state officials and private sector actors.
