Brigadier General R. Achmad Nurwahid, Director of Deradicalization at BNPT, underscored the importance for deradicalization partners, survivors, and law enforcement agencies to regard this tragedy as a "rearview mirror" and to come together in shaping the future. "Much like a car's rearview mirror, this incident constantly reminds us of the lessons to be learned. We must prevent its recurrence. Survivors, deradicalization partners, law enforcement, including BNPT, unite in our shared pursuit of the future," he stated on Monday (8/7/23). Speaking on behalf of deradicalization partners, Umar Patek, a former member of the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) network who has successfully undergone a deradicalization program, seized this opportunity to express gratitude for the survivors' forgiveness. He reminds society, especially the youth, not to be exposed to and indoctrinated into committing violent acts that lead to terrorism.
