Inp.polri.go.id - Bandarlampung. Lampung Regional Police Chief Inspector General Helmy Santika called on the public to report any suspicious activities during worship and emphasized the importance of religious tolerance on Nyepi Day, which coincided with the eve of the first Ramadan evening prayer, known as tarawih.
He said that Lampung Police have instituted special security measures during Nyepi Day, or the Day of Silence, observed by Balinese Hindu believers.
"We won't deploy personnel, but security measures will be upheld in their respective areas," Chief Helmy said.
He highlighted that security is conducted at each location since Nyepi Day celebrations involve quiet contemplation, without any bustling activities.
"Security measures are being implemented independently by each police office , especially since Hindu communities abstain from their usual routines during Nyepi," Chief Helmy said.
He encouraged community members, regardless of their faith, to uphold religious tolerance during their observances.
Chief Helmy stressed the importance of jointly maintaining a secure environment to make everyone feels safe and comfortable.
"Report any suspicious activities during worship to the local community police officer for greater devotion and respect, fostering tolerance, especially as we enter Ramadan and the first Tarawih prayers and fasting days for Muslims," he said.
