Inp.polri.go.id - Bandarlampung.  The Chief of the Lampung Regional Police, Inspector General Helmy Santika, appreciated local community for celebrating the New Year 2024 safely and peacefully. "I express my gratitude to everyone who have collaborated to ensure and maintain public order and security during the New Year's Eve and holiday season," he said on Tuesday (2/1/2024). According to the Police Chief, the security and order in Lampung are inseparable from the participation of the local community. Thus, the celebration of the New Year 2024 and the long holiday period in the province proceeded safely and smoothly, antaranews.com reported. "The public order remains conducive. We hope that a similar situation and condition can be maintained," he added. Meanwhile, Alfi Widya Kusuma, a resident from East Kalimantan Province, expressed that Lampung is a comfortable place, and its residents are friendly. "I have been here (Lampung) for six years, pursuing education. Many people say that Lampung's image is quite bad, but in my opinion, it's not as terrifying as people say. It's fine here," he said. He also mentioned that in terms of security in Lampung, both in the provincial capital, especially Bandarlampung, and other districts, it is far from being frightening. "Moreover, I feel that the local residents of Bandarlampung are very friendly and welcoming to newcomers. The city is nice, contrary to what people say that it's very tough; it's not like that," he added. A similar sentiment was expressed by Hendra, a resident of South Sumatra, who spent vacation time in Lampung. "My family and I often hear the term 'Begal' in Lampung. However, during our vacation here, we always feel comfortable and safe," he said, referring to the violent street crimes. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
