Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. In the early days of 2024, joint personnel of Turangga Lilin Operation patorls around several churches in Kupang City. The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police Public Relations Division Chief, Senior Superintendent Ariasandy says the security operation was conducted both openly and closed with the prime goals of providing security for the city. Ariasandy adds that they are ready to deploy Mobile Brigade unit if deemed necessary. Before the sermons begin, police have sterilized the location to ensure churches safety. The security also involves parties from other institutions such as the military, transportation office, community organization, also religious and local figures. The collaboration of these parties is expected to be able to provide a sense of security for the general public. The PR Chief also emphasized other than providing security for the houses of worship, personnel also conduct the patrol and security in tourist destinations, shopping centers, and other vital objects. These efforts were to ensure the safety of the general public. “Security operation on churches by NTT Regional Police and Sub-regional Police personnel was to ensure the security and comfort of Christians in their prayers,” conclude Ariasandy.
