inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) stated that basic logistical assistance is the most urgent need for people surviving the river flooding in Parigi Moutong Regency, Central Sulawesi.

The Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, stated that these needs include food, rice, blankets, and mattresses to help the victims during the emergency response period.

The BNPB Operations Center (Pusdalops) reported that the flooding occurred after heavy rains inundated Parigi Moutong Regency on Saturday (6/20/2026) at around 11:00 PM, causing several rivers to overflow.

The incident affected at least six villages spread across four sub-districts: Parigi, South Parigi, West Parigi, and Balinggi. The BNPB recorded that 146 families were affected by the incident, while 32 families evacuated to safer places.

"In Masari Village, 70 families were affected, 10 of whom were displaced, and in Dolago Padang, 50 families were affected," said Head of the Center, Abdul, on Monday (6/22/2026).

In addition to impacting residents, the floods also inundated 166 homes, two of which suffered minor damage. Other material losses included three heavily damaged bridges, one broken water main, and 70 hectares of rice fields and two hectares of residents' plantations affected by the flooding.

"Currently, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Parigi Moutong Regency, along with the Indonesian Military (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (INP), the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), village officials, and volunteers, are still conducting emergency response and distributing aid to the affected communities," concluded Abdul.
