inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Sub-regional Police have seized 8.6 liters of the Class II narcotic etomidate with a street value of IDR 97.8 billion from an international drug trafficking network.

Soekarno-Hatta Airport Sub-regional Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Wisnu Wardana, stated that the drugs evidence was obtained from three cases uncovered over a five-month period, from February to May 2026.

"We have secured a total of 8,600 milliliters/8.6 liters of etomidate liquid with a street value of approximately IDR 97.8 billion," said Wisnu on Monday (6/22/2026).

He stated that the cross-border drug smuggling network involved four suspects from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and China. They acted as couriers, receiving between IDR 45 million and IDR 132 million per person.

"Discovering these three cases has the potential to save approximately 55,928 lives from drug abuse," continued Wisnu.

He stated that the successful uncovering of this international smuggling network was due to the collaboration between the police and Customs in monitoring passenger traffic through Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Banten.

"This disclosure shows that Soekarno-Hatta Airport remains a target for international narcotics networks importing etomidate into Indonesia," he concluded.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Sub-regional Airport Police Narcotics Unit, Police Senior Inspector Michael Kharisma Tandayu, explained that in the three cases, the police arrested four suspects: TN, a Singaporean citizen, CT, a Malaysian citizen, JZ, a Chinese citizen, and SP, a Thai citizen.
