inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Manpower has deployed an Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Examination Team to examine the physical health and fatigue risks of bus and travel car drivers at six main homecoming monitoring points.

The six inspection points are located at bus terminals and pools, travel agencies, and companies that organize joint homecoming in Jakarta, Bekasi, Bandung, Surabaya, Medan, and Samarinda.

"This assessment aims to ensure drivers are in prime condition. This is important because driver or human error factors due to fatigue from long-distance travel with long work durations are one of the factors that can increase the risk of traffic accidents," said the Director General of Manpower Supervision and Occupational Safety and Health (Binwasnaker & K3) of the Ministry of Manpower, Ismail Pakaya, Monday (3/16/2026).

Ismail said this step was taken because the safety of homecoming travel is not only determined by the condition of the vehicle and the smoothness of the route, but also by the physical readiness and alertness of the driver.

On long-distance trips with long work hours, fatigue can reduce concentration and increase the risk of traffic accidents.

"This inspection is an important step to ensure drivers are in top condition before and during their duties while transporting passengers," explained Ismail.

He explained that the K3 Examination Team conducts direct assessments of drivers, starting from identifying work patterns and rest periods, basic physical health checks, and evaluating various factors that could potentially trigger fatigue during the trip.

This examination is expected to be an early preventative measure to reduce risks on the road. In addition to physical examinations, the Ministry of Manpower also provides education to drivers and transportation operators about the importance of work fatigue management.
