inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) at the Ministry of Finance is urging the public to be wary of tax fraud schemes that impersonate tax authorities.

"We remind the public to remain vigilant against fraud schemes that impersonate our officials/employees," said Inge Diana Rismawanti, Director of Counseling, Services, and Public Relations at the DGT, on Wednesday (2/18/2026). She continued that fraudsters offer fake tax services using various methods.

Based on data collected by the DGT, the fraudsters generally use pretexts such as matching NIK (National Identity Number) and NPWP (Tax Identification Number) data, confirming tax data, implementing the DGT Coretax application, and even requesting transfers or promotions of DGT officials and employees.

Scams used include contacting the public via WhatsApp to download an .apk file, downloading the M-Pajak application by sending a fake link, paying tax bills, processing overpayment refunds, and paying electronic stamp duty by clicking or accessing a fake link.

Other methods used include calling the public and requesting money transfers under the guise of DGT officials/employees.

"If the public experiences similar requests from individuals claiming to be DGT officials/employees, they can confirm their authenticity through the nearest tax office, Kring Pajak 1500200, or email pengaduan@pajak.go.id," said Director Inge.

In addition, the DGT also encourages the public to report fraud through the Ministry of Communication and Digital channels and law enforcement agencies.
