Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police have arrested a 19-year-old woman for allegedly disposing the body of her approximately seven-month-old infant in an apartment toilet. 

The infant’s body was discovered on Monday at around 11.45 am.

Metro Jaya Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent. Ade Ary Syam said that the infant awas believed to have been discarded by the suspect, identified as LRT, two days prior in the toilet of an apartment complex in Pluit, North Jakarta. 

"It is suspected that the infant was disposed due to an illicit relationship," he said on Wednesday (2/10/2024), as quoted by antaranews.com.

It remained unclear whether the infant was stillborn or alive at birth.

The incident came to light when a unit owner complained of a clogged toilet and requested maintenance. Two engineering staff arrived to investigate the issue. 

"After using a vacuum, a baby's hand emerged from the toilet. Upon further examination, the body of a baby boy was found," Chief Ade Ary explained.
